The kids and I went to the tierpark again today. I cannot express how heavenly it is to walk the beautiful trails through the woods to get to the tierpark. (Of course, it is slightly more heavenly on the downslopes than the upslopes.) Here's the resident wolf, which made me think of Grimm's fairytales. The European wolf certainly has a different look than the timberwolves I'm accustomed to in the upper midwest. The snout of this wolf struck me as very long, narrow, and menacing. The better to eat you with, my dear....
The kids got to see another mammal eating from its mom.
Grace, Sam, and Katie rode a little merry-go-round. It had a perfect seat for a toddler.
All the kids on the merry-go-round wanted to see each other. Grace couldn't get over that the fellow behind her kept following her so closely. How rude!
It might be kind of hard to make out, but there is a brown bear on the middle right side of this photo. The animal enclosures are very beautiful and creative. We have only seen about a third of the park so far, but what we've seen is wonderful - I think it even beats the Fort Worth zoo. And all the animals at the tierpark are native to Germany.
Today I came to the realization that I am no longer daunted by doing things with four kids. The first couple months after Isaac joined the family, I avoided doing everyday things with all four kids. For example, I'd only grocery shop while Dave watched two of the kids. Being here in Bielefeld and having no choice but to include all the kids in all the aspects of daily life, it has been very freeing. And I am starting to enjoy all the comments of "Vier?!" as we walk along the paths in town.
What a beautiful place! I think you are an awesome mom doing things with all four kids. I've been wondering how that has been for you. I was amazed you did five days by yourself while Dave was gone! You need to be nominated "Mom of the Year"!
