On the 13th, the kids' schools had St. Lucia day celebrations. We went to the one at the international school, because the first graders were doing the procession.
The preschool had a St. Lucia day breakfast, with all sorts of cookies and buns baked by the kids.

Here comes the procession, led by a third grader and a fourth grader. Their red belts represent the blood that came from St. Lucia when she died (kind of a morbid story). |
Katie took her role very seriously, and sang the St. Lucia song with gusto. |
After the procession, the whole school went to the kitchen for Luciakake (special twisted buns with raisins on top) and saft (fruit syrup diluted with water). Here's Sam and his good friend Adrian. |
