Putting up the Christmas tree

The day before Christmas Eve is the day for setting up and decorating the tree.

Katie and Isaac tried to catch some fish for lunch in one of the puddles on the street outside our house.
Dave brings the tree up from downstairs.
Ta da!  Our neighbors (who are in Galveston for Christmas!) lent us their Christmas tree stand.
Katie was our chief tree decorator.  This tree ended up being outfitted with Legos, a scarf, a cookie cutter, and oodles of homemade decorations.
We made some traditional Norwegian Christmas cookies - berlinerkransers.  They sound German, but they are native to Norge.
They were great cookies for the kids to make.  You roll out a little sausage shape with your hand, and then form it into a wreath, dip it in egg white, and sprinkle it with pearl sugar.

The tree is really coming along - nice work, Katie!

Dave enjoys the Christmas decorations.
Skål!  Kristen left early in the morning on Christmas Eve.  We will miss her.  She even offered to serve as our pack mule and brought an extra bag of our stuff back to Texas with her.  I haven't yet done a trial packing of our stuff, but we will definitely leave with more things than we came with.
