Christmas stories in the lavvoen

On Monday, after I dropped off Isaac at barnehage, I headed back through downtown to run some errands.  I hadn't eaten breakfast yet, so I decided to stop by the Julemarket and have a waffle.  When I walked into the lavvoen (tents) where the cafe is, I spotted some familiar faces - Sam and Katie and their classes were in the tent around a roaring fire listening to some Norwegian Christmas tales.  One of the teachers told me that this traditionally goes on in the forest.

The kids had some fun field trips this past week.  Monday was the Julemarket, Thursday, they walked downtown and went to a movie at the theater, and the previous Friday Katie's class visited the cathedral to hear the Christmas story and go angel spotting.  On Wednesday, they went to the local synagogue.  This is all part of their unit on celebrations.
My breakfast
Isaac by the Christmas tree in the Ila park, on our way home in the evening.   I bought the sled earlier that day, because we needed two for our pick ups of Grace and Isaac on opposite parts of town.
In the evening on Monday, we went over to our neighbor Inger Anne's house for dinner.  She's the awesome neighbor who patched Isaac up when he cut his eye.

Our lovely hostesses - we had a great time at the visit.  Salmon, cucumber salad, potatoes, Norwegian cookies - it was all so good, and great conversation.
