We are discovering what a small town Trondheim is.  It is rare that we walk anywhere without bumping into somebody we know.  A nice surprise was discovering that our neighbor sings in one of the choirs at the cathedral.  Each week, we've seen a different choir - one week the college men's choir, the next week was a mixed voices choir, and this week was a choir made up of teenage girls.

This past week was a week of birthday parties.  Katie, Grace, and Sam each had parties to attend.  My children's social lives have officially far surpassed mine.

Dropping off Katie at Sophie's party.
While Katie was at her party, I had a couple of hours to sit at a cafe and catch up on writing some letters.  My uncle Bob and my mom have both been great about writing to us in Norway - I need to be better about returning the favor.

On the walk home, we passed by Katie's school, and she wanted to show me her favorite climbing trees.

This is how Katie spends her recess time at school .
Katie the climber.
I love that the kids' recess is filled with the things I remember from childhood - climbing trees, digging in the dirt, rigging up ropes to do clever things.

This soccer field is between our house and the school.  Apparently, this path was part of the Trondheim marathon from the previous day - you can just make out the white chalk markings to indicate the route on the path.  Thank goodness the arrows were pointing down the stairs and not up.

  2. I love reading your posts....looks like you all are having wonderful quality family time exploring the surrounding areas. So jealous of the simple pleasures in life you are enjoying like playing in a lake, climbing trees, hiking trails, etc.

Tell Grace and Isaac Madison says "hello"...she loves looking at their pictures!

Tell Katie today was our first day of Sunday School and class just wasn't the same without her. We are glad she is enjoying Norway but we miss her in our class!
