Sam woke up Saturday morning with the newfound ability to whistle.  We have been blessed with that sound ever since.

He has been addicted to Calvin and Hobbes since he checked it out of the school library on Thursday. His quote on Saturday morning: "This will be a perfect day, lounging, whistling, and reading Calvin and Hobbes."
Katie was inspired by her Friday art club experience to author a handful of books this weekend.  This is the cover of one.

Some sights from around the house on Saturday morning.

We hang out our wash.  We were warned that the cost of electricity here is exorbitant, so we save on the juice by not using the dryer.
Some artwork by Katie brightening the fireplace.
And if the weather isn't trustworthy, we have an extra room upstairs where we can let the clothes hang dry.  We also have a lovely behind-the-couch fort in this room.

Isaac and Grace enjoying the playhouse together.
It was a gorgeous day for being outside.  Brisk, but completely clear.  We have used the woodstove the past few nights, but haven't needed it during the day.
Dave won first place in his orienteering race this week!  Here is his map from the race.  In the upper right, you can see his check-ins and split times.  This was the last race of the season, so it's a perfect way to go out - number one!

  1. Tell Sam that Uncle Dave has a whole collection of Calvin & Hobbs books that he can read whenever he comes for a visit. :)

  2. Sam is a gem!!! Love that kid, so brilliant. I feel a lot like Sam, I am a fan of the simple life. Yay whistling. :-) Is it just me or are Grace and Isaac the cutest duo ever?! The answer is they are the cutest duo ever! They just seem to have so much fun together they are always very happy. Grace looks to be very entertained by Isaac, like when he is playing with the stapler. Katie will be a fashionable author soon, I can just feel it; her imagination and creative are just magnificent! CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Jorgensen!! YAY. oh and by the by, I love putting my clothes outside to dry I find it more refreshing. Thanks for letting me peek into your lives.
